Over the years I’ve had a number of people ask me why there’s no new artwork after 2006. Well the reasons are multifold. For about the past decade I have been concentrating heavily on my graphic design career. The first decade of this century was very haphazard for me career-wise. And, let’s face it, photography is an expensive venture. So I had to set priorities; and my main priority was stabilizing myself career-wise, with the hope that at some point in the future I can pick up the camera again.
There’s also the little inconvenience that, as technology has moved forward, my type of photography is becoming harder to do. I still use film, which is getting difficult to come by these days. Finally, I may want to move on to something different. All of my artwork from 1995-2006 was shot on 35mm film. So right now I’m trying to decide if I should switch to using a digital camera, or should I purchase a medium format film camera? I still want to continue along the same vein of super vibrant, abstract dreamscapes but the choice of staying pure (film) or going for convenience (digital) is a tough one for me, but I hope to finally reach a conclusion at some point later this year.
